Diorama and Ordenstaat/Great Kingdoms Progress

Here's a juicy diorama to rope you all in. It's composed of my Lords of the Wild (SAGA Age of Magic) warband and a hodge podge of human 15mm miniatures I've got (Kings of War & SAGA).

Furthermore, here's a little update on two units of levy crossbowmen for my Great Kingdoms (SAGA Age of Magic) warband. They will double as crossbow warriors for my Ordenstaat (SAGA Age of Crusades) whenever I hopefully get to play!

Tonight I finished the most cumbersome step for my Ordenstaat, the metal. I used Vallejo Model Air Steel (71.065) as it goes on very smoothly. Also, 24 minis simultaneously is definitely a chore, but I'm looking forward to getting so much of my warband done in one fell swoop.

Hobby Update: Sea Inlets and Chasms

Hello and welcome back to the blog! This entry will focus on two pieces of terrain I recently worked on, a chasm and a sea inlet. These were both challenging pieces, though for very different reasons.  Step 1: Bases To begin any terrain project (well, except for maybe hills), you'll need a good base to work on. I use around 3/16" MDF sheets which can be found at most large home improvement or hardware stores.  First step is to plan out the base sizes and shapes. I normally do this with a black magic marker to help guide my cuts and to make the most use of my materials. Once the bases are planned out, it's cutting time. I tend to do my first rough cuts using a table saw. Table saws are pretty big, scary, and dangerous, especially when working with smaller pieces of material. Also, table saws are not intended for making curved cuts, so, while I use it for this myself, I can't safely recommend it. My second cuts are done with a handheld jigsaw. This is not my favorite too...

Warhammer Fantasy Battles 6th Edition: Empire vs Brettonia

Welcome back to the bloggy for a new battle report! This time, I had the pleasure of playing Warhammer Fantasy Battles 6th Edition , a classic, and my favorite, edition of the game which survives in our hearts and memories. I can still remember distinctly the first time I picked up the 6th edition "big rule book." I had just returned from staying with my grandmother in Florida during the summer of 2000. The new (and sealed) book was waiting for me back home, but I begged my parents to bring it with them when they picked me up from the airport so I didn't need to wait another excruciating 30-45 minutes without it. All summer I had pored over my glorious Warhammer Armies: Skaven supplement, imagining the incredible horde of chittering ratmen I would loose upon the denizens of the Old World. SAGA Age of Magic: The Great Kingdoms vs The Horde

Welcome back for another game of SAGA Age of Magic. Today, I played an 8 pt game against my friend Matt. Matt's new to the game and hobby overall, but he's quickly learning how to roll the bones. Rather than complicate things via the Book of Battles, we chose to play a standard game of  Clash of Warlords . The Narrative: The Outlands are on fire. All along the horizon, columns of smoke herald the coming of unspeakable monstrosities. These are enemies without remorse, fear, or mercy. A cold, clammy dread seizes the heart of The Protectorate as wide eyed, blood soaked survivors spread tales of raids, massacres, and unearthly terror. Sworn to protect the meek, His Order of the Ebon Cross is roused and readied in the panoply of war. Prayers are spoken, oaths taken, and weapons anointed.
